Location: Banff Seniors Centre, 107 Bear Street in Banff
Join Cliff White of the Canadian Rockies Bison Initiative for a talk on the historical ecology of the bison in Western North America.
White, who's a senior research biologist and bison historian, will share his passion for the bison — often called buffalo.
He will describe how researchers from many disciplines are learning the pattern of historic bison movements, the ways bison influenced both natural and human communities, and how parks can use this knowledge to restore ecological integrity to mountain and foothills landscapes.
The talk will also include an update on the reintroduction of bison to Banff National Park.
Hosted by the Bow Valley Naturalists as part of their monthly speaker series, which runs on the fourth Tuesday of every month from October until April.
