For more than 50 years AWA has worked throughout Alberta to protect wilderness and develop a network of protected areas that allow refuge and movement for wildlife, secures biodiversity, water, and clean air.
Climb for Wilderness seeks to increase public awareness of wilderness, wildlife and wild water in Alberta combined with the challenge of climbing 1,204 stairs (more than once if you’re keen!). The event attracts over 1000 participants and volunteers each year, aged 2 to 102, with a diverse range of athletic ability.
This year, for the first time, participants get a chance to use the outer staircase of the Bow which gives spectacular views of Calgary all the way to the 54th floor. Along the way will be exhibits, booths, and volunteers with information about Alberta’s environment and wildlife. Participants also have a chance to win some great prizes from our generous sponsors while doing their part to help protect Alberta’s wilderness.
